Job Killer Bill Introduced – SB 1203

Last week Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas introduced SB1203. While SB 1203 is framed as a public safety measure, the bill imposes substantial new regulatory burdens that risk harming both security providers and the communities you serve.

Expanded training and administrative requirements will increase operational costs for security companies—costs that will ultimately be passed on to clients, including small businesses, schools, and housing providers.

SB 1203 proposes sweeping changes by significantly expanding licensing requirements, mandating additional training hours, and increasing reporting and compliance obligations. In short, SB 1203 is a job killer.

This week CALSAGA delivered a letter Senator Smallwood-Cuevas stating CALSAGA’s opposition and detailing the reasons for the association’s stance.

CALSAGA’s lobbyist is also communicating with CalChamber to share the association’s opposition of this bill. Of course, we will keep you informed of the bill’s status as it moves through senate committees.
