Carry Letter Recommendation
For those with officers working in affected areas, CALSAGA recommends that you draft a carry letter that your officers can carry on their person along with their guard card.
The letter should include the following:
- Company Name
- Confirmation that the person in possession of the letter is a representative of the company and is providing essential physical security, safety and/or critical support services
- Contact information for the purpose of validating or confirming the services being provided and/or employment status
It is also recommended to include verbiage about security’s inclusion in federal protections as one of the sixteen Critical Infrastructure Sectors by the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) which is part of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Emergency Services Sector website states:
The ESS maintains public safety and security, performs lifesaving operations, protects property and the environment, and assists communities impacted by disasters…The ESS includes private sector resources, such as industrial fire departments, private security organizations, and private emergency medical services providers.
